The primary use
for computers today is to connect to the
internet. The internet is certainly a better
place than worse. Information on anything
imaginable can be found at lightening fast
speeds. Hard to find products can be found
online rather than calling or traveling to
multiple stores.
There are many
things that can go wrong with a PC. There was a
time when a Ctrl/Alt/Delete would usually solve
the problem. Nowadays, a computer is so much
more than a tool to figure out how to
pin-point and blow-up
something efficiently and effectively. |

Installing or
uninstalling programs or software that came with
your scanner, printer, web-cam or that wireless
keyboard and mouse. Scan disks, defrags, emptying
the recycle bin, disk clean ups and obsolete
installation files. Some believe the proper way to
shut off the computer is the same way they turned it
on, the power button.
Computers are
used for everything from work to play. Ask someone
to describe their job or what they did before they
had a computer, chances are they can't remember and
if they're under 20 they never knew life without
them. |

Viruses, Spy-ware, Trojans,
Worms, Etc...
There is always something
in the news about a new virus. One which does this to that, sends whatever to
whomever, targets and deletes something and one that targets some company or
university.

Spy-ware
is out of control as well and you have to take steps protecting your computer
from what could possibly be worse than a virus. There are many free programs
available as there are for purchase. About the only difference between them is
running automatically in the background or starting manually when you want.

Spybot & Ad-Aware
Personal are both outstanding as far a free goes. You could pay for a
program, but viruses and spy-ware are something every computer that should know
how to attack. When used one after the other they do a fantastic job in
clearing out the junk. Its recommended you run ad-aware first, then run Spybot.
